Book Crossing

Book Crossing LogoWhat a great concept for a web site! The BookCrossing web site suggests that when you've finished your old books, you free them to the world for someone else to read. Of course this already happens; I lend my fave books to friends, and they return them when they've finished.

But what if you didn't want the book back? It's only sat on your bookshelves doing nothing anyway, right? Set it free, leave it somewhere for someone else, but when they pick it up, they will enter the fact on the web site, allowing you to track where your book is gone, after you've released it to the wild.

The site offers all the labels you'd need to release books, so that people can log it for you.

"It's also a fascinating exercise in fate, karma, or whatever you want to call the chain of events that can occur between two or more lives and one piece of literature."

Porn Stupid

A man has been arrested in New York state after being caught watching a pornographic film while driving.

According to a report on the msnbc website, the officer saw 35 year-old Andre Gainey watching the film on a DVD screen inside his Mercedes. He is currently being held in the Schenectady County Jail, without bail.
When I say 'held' I mean detained, of course!.

Canterbury Tales

sky view of CanterburyJust spent a weekend in Canterbury (ok, it happened to be Valentine's weekend), but what a lovely place it is. You can find out a lot of what's there by going to the Canterbury web site.

The site that proved most useful though was the Pub Guide to Canterbury, which when you scan the list, and realise that most of them are within short walking distance from the centre of town, makes you realise that a pub crawl is a definite must do.

For accomodation, you can always go to this Canterbury Hotels and Guest Houses site. We stayed at the Castle Court Guest House, and it was fine, £20 per head per night.
